PEACE KAMP welcomes you with open arms, and a promise to delight the senses, refresh the spirit. Explore and indulge in a variety of nature’s bounties. Experience adventure, find tranquility, immerse in culture.
PEACE KAMP, find your peace, indulge in your adventure.
THE STORY began with our immersion with Aytas from Sapang Uwak in 2013.
Our interaction with their community opened our eyes to the opportunity to put personal advocacies to work in this one-of-a-kind community that welcomed us so warmly.
PEACE KAMP is the brainchild of our active and collaborative efforts. Pinatubo Eco-Adventure and Cultural Enclave or PEACE was coined by one of our former staff in 2013. KAMP stands for Katutubong Anak ng Mount Pinatubo.
Like other rural communities affected by the effects of fallout from insurgency, volcano eruption and government neglect, lack of opportunity and poverty has been the key problems confronting the Aytas of Sapang Uwak.
Our immersion is anchored on building community, strengthening capabilities, enabling hope to drive growth individually and collectively – focusing on the children.
The members of our team come from different provinces and different backgrounds but are bound by the same vision of enabling a peaceful and progressive nation. Each of us believe that development and progress must ensure that no one is left behind—the less fortunate, the vulnerable, those who have been excluded and oppressed, and the victims of injustices—simply because of their circumstances.
PEACE KAMP’s mission is to provide a venue for convergence of different cultures, socio-economic and environmental activities and a sustained culture of peace. The vision is that by 2028, the Aytas of Sapang Uwak will be a model IP community for having a sustainable community-based tourism hub in Pampanga.
We want to be able to:
1) Build capability.
Train and develop Aytas to support indigenous skills and capabilities for sustainable economic endeavors.
2) Build knowledge and values.
Bring access to information and knowledge while changing the limited perspective and poor self-image of the Aytas thru educational & values formation programs.
3) Preserve Ayta culture.
Ensure that the incomparable culture and history of the Aytas is preserved and shared through the development and showcase of Ayta dances and music.
Our effort is just a drop in the ocean. We have only just begun, and we have not done enough for the Aytas. As an infant organization, PEACE KAMP is just starting to walk, to talk, to firm up its ability to make a difference.
We are counting on the participation and support of like-minded advocates, people like you, who believe in the same ideals, who are committed to sharing this journey with PEACE KAMP and the Aytas of Sapang Uwak.
It is our choice to remain faceless and nameless because we want our hearts to be remembered, not our names.
Membership is easy, by visiting or sharing or helping out, you become part of PEACE KAMP. Anyone can be a member of PEACE KAMP. All who have visited our place in Sapang Uwak.
In our minds and in our hearts, you are all members of PEACE KAMP. And because you are part of the advocacy, you are welcome anytime to immerse with the people.
Your presence and participation are continuing affirmations that PEACE KAMP is a living, dynamic force for good.
